Michael has been a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia since 1996 and is admitted to practice law in the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
Extensive Criminal Prosecution Experience and Election to Solicitor-General of Putnam County
Michael served as the Assistant District Attorney for Putnam and Morgan Counties from 1997 through 2002. During this time Michael was responsible for prosecuting all criminal cases in the Putnam and Morgan County Superior Courts, Magistrate Courts, as well as the Morgan County Probate Court. Michael has successfully prosecuted thousands of criminal cases ranging from routine traffic citations to numerous death penalty cases. On November 4, 2008, Michael was elected to the Office of Solicitor General of Putnam County. He was re-elected to the position in November 2012. As Solicitor General of Putnam County, he prosecuted all criminal cases in the State Court of Putnam County, as well as the Municipal Court of Eatonton.
Eatonton Municipal Court & Putnam County State Court Judge
Michael served as the Solicitor General of Putnam County until January 9, 2013, when he was appointed and sworn in by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal to become the Judge of the Putnam County State Court. Michael has been twice re-elected to the office of Putnam County State Court Judge. Michael also serves as the Municipal Court Judge of Eatonton.
Laura Gailey is the founding member of The Gailey Law Firm LLC, where she practices law with her husband, Michael Gailey.
Laura has been a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia since 1998 and is admitted to practice law in the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
Laura is a lifelong resident of Eatonton, Georgia. She graduated from Agnes Scott College with a B.A. in 1994 and received her J.D. from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University, in 1997. After law school, Laura worked as the Law Clerk for all of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judges for the counties of Putnam, Greene, Morgan, Baldwin, Jasper, Hancock, Jones and Wilkinson counties.
